What we do

At Poulton St Chad's Nursery, we build our routines, planning and activities around the EYFS.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a play based framework acknowledging that every child is unique and that they learn and develop at different rates and in different way. We ensure that each child has a key person to help them to develop, socialise and most importantly have fun whilst at Poulton St Chad's Nursery.

The aim of the EYFS is to support schools, nurseries and child minders to make sure that children from all backgrounds have the same opportunities and life chances as the most advantaged.

Learning & Development

We begin to lay a firm foundation for future development with a wide curriculum encompassing not only literacy and numeracy skills but specialist subjects such as music, drama and sport.

Outdoor Life

We have a large outdoor area where the children can play and explore. Within the outdoor area we have a garden where the children are learning to grow flowers, fruit and vegetables. Since 2014 we have been entering the Young Wyre in Bloom competition. In 2016 we received the Silver Award. In 2017 we received Silver Gilt.

Activities & Events

Since we have opened in October 2012 we have supported the school during various activities. Christmas 2013 the Nursery children opened the schools infant nativity to a packed out St Chad's church by singing several songs. We also have joined with the schools infant sports day.

The Early Years Foundation Stage sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.

The EYFS gives all teachers a set of principles that enables them to deliver quality education and childcare experiences to all children.

The EYFS is based on the following four themes:

What parents have said

His character is shining through and he is a very happy boy and that is thanks to all your hard work with him. I look forward to seeing how he progresses over the next few years."

  • "Quality of Management is fantastic I feel I could speak to any of them and they would take the time to talk to me. Couldn't have asked for more."
